I love to run. I didn't always, it used to be a tedious but necessary thing for me. I would drag my butt onto the treadmill and tough it out for 30 or 40 minutes (just enough to keep my girlish figure). After having little L I decided that I needed to turn up the volume on my exercising. It just so happened that one of my sisters, who is very much into running, was living with us at the time and she motivated me to run regularly. It was rough at first. We used to keep the treadmill in L's current room but once we set the room up for him it had to go and it ended up in our detached garage. L was born in the late fall, I waited for a couple of months to recover from the birth and then started getting up at least 3 or 4 times a week at 5:30 AM. It wasn't fun, but I took it a mile at a time. I used to run a mile and then walk a mile. Eventually I went for longer and longer and the cold didn't bother me as much because I was getting a good work out, it was actually refreshing. Fast forward to the spring and I was able to go 5-7 miles on the treadmill each time. I was back in shape but I still found it to be a chore. I decided to try running outdoors to make things more interesting, since my spider filled garage didn't have the best scenery (unless you are interested in creepy insects) . This was a very hard change, I felt out of shape all over again. I'd been using the incline on the treadmill, but apparently it was nothing compared to my very hilly neighborhood. I didn't give up or find a track to run on, I just toughed it out. It was me vs. the hills and I started with a mile at a time all over again. After a while of course it got easier and these days I am hooked. I am officially a running fool and love to go out and take on the hills, the wind, the rain and the snow. I try to get out 4-5 days a week for at least 5 miles, 10 miles or more on Saturdays. I am very lucky to live in the foothills of the Wasatch mountains, it makes for amazing scenery.
I don't know if posting about running makes for an interesting read, but I did it anyway. I always post about my kids. So here is something about me for once ;)
