Boo at the Zoo

It's officially a tradition to go to Boo at the Zoo now I guess (this is our second year). I love the zoo about as much as R does. It was a cool, cloudy day and it wasn't as packed as last year probably due to the weather and the fact that BYU and the U of U both had big football games. It gave us all the more space for me to waddle my pregnant self around and less lines for R to stand in to get candy. She has been practicing saying trick or treat for a week but it still sounded like trick a tree. The highlights for me were the baby elephant, giraffe and tigers, which were all so cute. The elephant especially, his skin looked too big for his little body. R loved the carousel and hugged and kissed the zebra she rode on goodbye with tear-filled eyes as I pulled her away. I had to promise her that she would see him again someday to get her off of it. She also walked around proudly announcing to every person and animal that she was Cinderella. "I'm Cinderella penguin, I'm Cinderella elephant." It was pretty funny.

American Heritage Center

There is a musuem/farm out by Logan, Utah called the American Heritage Center and every fall they have festivities go on. I have been meaning to take R for a month and finally did on Friday. She really liked it. She even got to ride a pony, but had to put on a gigantic bicycle helmet to do so, which I think actually made it even cuter to watch. They had a train, a corn maze and some animals too. We have been trying to squeeze some outdoor fun things in for R before the baby comes and we have to be a bit more cooped up for a while.

The baby goat, she kept saying "oooh, a little baby like me".

Super R Helps the Squirrels

R often goes by her alias Super R especially when she wants to help someone or something. And every night before she falls asleep she has me make up a story of something Super R did that day. A couple of nights ago I told her a story about how she helped squirrels find a place to put all of their nuts that they were collecting for winter. (We have a big family of squirrels and a bunch of chipmunks that live in the trees in our yard and they bury their nuts under our deck.) The next day she put on her super cape (which is really an art smock turned backwards) and wanted to go outside with her shovel to make the story come true.

This is when R spotted the squirrel on the fence.

This is the squirrel, she called him "Chipmock".

She was yelling at me to help her dig and..."hurry!"

She dug Chipmock a nice hole and then made me leave him some horse chestnuts on the fence
in case he had trouble finding more food.

In baby news, I went to see the Dr. today and they are going to induce me on November 1st, unless the baby comes before that day. He may because I have had a lot of contractions and have been pretty dilated (although, you never can tell by just those things) It is a relief to have an induction date because we don't have family around to help and are relying on friends and neighbors to take care of R so this will make it easier on our helpers too.

Canadian Thanksgiving

J and I have celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving every year since we have been married. Usually just something small, we make cornish game hens (little chickens) instead of turkey and a few Thanksgiving fixings and it's usually just us. This year R wanted to make a craft for Thanksgiving and we used this lovely turkey pumpkin for our centerpiece. She was very proud of her work.
Also the pregnancy is going smoothly still, I have started getting Braxton Hicks and that's never fun but it does mean that I am almost done! Sorry for the lack of pictures, J and I are pretty bad about taking pictures of each other, I know I have one from our Montana trip somewhere in my blog but it isn't very good because R is covering my stomach. But for those of you who care to see "the belly" I will try to post a picture before the baby comes.

Paintin' Pumpkins

J's work had a family Halloween party and they set up an area for the kids to paint pumpkins. R applied about 50 coats of gray (all of the other colors mixed together) paint to hers and it didn't dry in time for us to take it home. But she had a lot of fun in the process.
