So here is what is happening around here, J is in tax extension mode and working like a maniac. I don't know how he doesn't lose his mind, I have no doubt that I would if I were in his shoes. So my hat is off to him.
I have mostly been trying to keep the kiddos from getting bored but also trying to keep from melting in the heat. I think that the older I get the more the summer heat gets to me. But of course I always miss it come January. And I do love the beach or a pool in the summer, that is the best way to spend a summer day.
R is starting preschool in a few weeks and is very excited. She recently learned to write her name because she was sure it would be a useful skill for school. She is so good at preparing and planning ahead, it amazes me. Wherever we are going, whether it be the park or the grocery store or wherever she packs a bag with snacks, drinks and toys for both her and her brother. She also always asks if there will be a bathroom so that she can go at home if there isn't. She is still in ballet and tumbling and really enjoys doing both. She can never decide which she likes better. She practices at home on her own all of the time and L and I are usually coerced into being her audience and clap and cheer as she does leaps and forward rolls. She loves an audience and puts on plays (sometimes in made up languages) and tells some very original jokes. Knock, knock. Who's there? Banana pants. Banana pants who? Banana pants ate my popsicle! Then she will laugh for a long time at her own joke. Cutie.
L is a handful, he isn't naughty - just very, very busy. The boy has two modes 1) run around like crazy and look at/play with everything and everyone and 2) sleep (which never lasts long enough). He wakes up around 5 AM everyday and cut back to one nap per day before he even turned one. But he is a major sweetheart, I can't ever stay mad at him for longer than 10 seconds. He is always smiling and giving me hugs and kisses. He even says kisses before giving them to me (it is heart melting). He is starting to talk a lot more. Most things that he says involve the word GO. "Let's go!" "Are we gonna go?" "Where did he go?" He also can say a lot of food and drink words. Nana for banana, wawer for water, cookie, bread, drink, cup, milk. He loves cars, trains and and animals. He says vroom vroom, choo choo, he roars (a lot), and loves to say ruff ruff. It took him a while to start talking (compared to R) but now he is picking up new words everyday. He calls his sister Quel and Boo.
Here are some pictures from our summer adventures. WARNING- there are lots and lots and they are in no particular order.
